Music is Important
Have you read about the recent studies showing that students who study music do better in math? That kids in Head Start who are involved in music activities are more successful once they get to school than those in the control group who didn't have special music instruction? That music makes physical changes in the brain that enhance brain function?
Well, we say that's all very well and good, and useful when you need to convince someone that music is worth funding. But music is important for its own sake. It is one of the things that makes us human. No one should have to do without music. And if we don't teach them, maybe no one will.
